Asbestos threat ‘underestimated’?

In: Asbestos News

A recent report published in the Lancet Oncology journal suggested that current estimates of the dangers posed by asbestos in the workplace may fall far short of the actual levels of illness caused through asbestos exposure.

In spite of the ban on new asbestos use, deaths attributed to exposure to asbestos continue to rise.  The report highlights the fact that more cancers than previously thought can be related to asbestos fibres, including cancer of the larynx (throat) and of the ovary.  Consequently, it is of paramount importance that exposure to asbestos fibres is minimised through knowledge of the location of any materials and by taking appropriate action to prevent exposure, whether through removal or encapsulation and management of the materials.

Asbestos Stripping can help with locating asbestos materials present in your premises, and advise on appropriate action where asbestos is found.  Whether you require a survey or have materials that require action, contact us today and we will be pleased to discuss how we are able to help you.
